Product Recommendations

Included below are product recommendations, for products I’ve purchased to help

with my various hobbies.  The number of products presented here, will hopefully

grow over time, as I have free time to make updates.

Lathe Buddies : 3rd Gen Pen Shop & Sew Amusing

Lathe Buddies have a water absorbent top, attached to a waterproof

backing material. They’re designed to protect the lathe bed from

moisture while wet sanding. I use the product for both wet sanding

and regular turning to help keep the bed clean as well as dry.

I was an instant fan of the Lathe Buddies after receiving a pair, one

small and one large, that I ordered November, 2024.  I was so pleased

with the product, that I bought four more of the small version. One for

myself, and the others to give as Christmas stocking stuffers for three

of my brothers, who are also turners.

For my Nova Comet 14 DR, a single small Lathe Buddy on the bed

works great for wet sanding, with the waterproof side up.  For dry

turning, I found that a pair of the small size, wrapped around the tool

post, works great. I also like that the magnets in the four corners, are

in small pouches that allow them to be flipped over if preferred. Nice

touch. I first saw a Lathe Buddy in use, during one of the Turners

Warehouse YouTube live feeds on Turners TV.

 Elite Knife Sharpener

I purchased this Work Sharp knife sharpener on Amazon back in

December, 2022, and have been very happy with it’s performance. This

is an adjustable, fixed angle knife sharpener, and a very easy tool to

use. And makes sharpening our household knives a breeze.

I came across a YouTube video of the sharpener being demonstrated

on the Work Sharp Tools channel.  In the video they were comparing

whether the sharpener works best pushing the diamond sharpening

stones into the blade, or pulling the stones back across the blade. An

excellent YouTube video, and sharpening tool.
